Tackling the Airpocalypse: Delhi-Lahore Cross-Border Collaboration

Delhi and Lahore ranking #2 and #5 among the world’s most polluted cities are facing an unprecedented “airpocalypse” with hazardous AQI readings exceeding 1,750 in some Delhi areas (300+ is considered hazardous). Delhi’s PM2.5 concentrations are now 120 times higher than WHO recommendations.
With 1.8 million people in Punjab province sickened by air pollution in a single month, these neighboring cities share more than just geographic proximity—they share a crisis that respects no borders.

IFFOP is Calling for Collaboration
At IFFOP, we believe that environmental crises like the worsening smog across South Asia demand global solidarity, not silence. The Airpocalypse Initiative is our call to action: a platform to unite civil society, researchers, environmentalists, artists, and everyday citizens across borders who share one urgent goal — clean air for all.
